DerekHansen has added all SI 684/884 students and instructors to a class email list. You can send messages to the list eCommunities@umich.edu and they will be forwarded on to all of the students and instructors in the class.

This ClassEmailList should be used for the discussion of the articles and Wiki write-ups each week, as well as any other interesting discussions that you may want to start. You are encouraged to use WikiWords (and even formatting syntax such as **bold**) in your email messages since they will become active links once they are posted to the course Wiki.

When you read a ClassEmailList email that you think is worthy of having posted to the class Wiki, then forward it to nominate.eCommunities@umich.edu without any modification. These messages will be appended to the class Wiki page(s) that relates to the topic, with those that receive the most nominations listed first. A hypothetical example is provided at the bottom of this page. Note that I have signed the message with a WikiWord so the link is automatically created when it is posted to the wiki site. Also, by including the entire URL the Wiki automatically makes it an external link.

We will, no doubt, evolve many useful conventions for the subject lines and contents of our email messages. For starters, please begin them with [eCommunities] (or use the reply feature so that the subject begins re: [eCommunities]). That way, people can immediately identify (and automatically file, for those who do such things) the messages from the class.
